Platform for Social Justice (PSJ) maintains a global presence with strategic partnerships within and outside Uganda.We seek to contribute to the existing initiatives by the government of Uganda and the Judiciary to advocate for observance of human rights and rule of law. INSTITUTIONAL CAPACITY AND SPECIALIZED EXPERTISE

What is the organization’s experience with identifying victims / survivors and providing tailored assistance to them? Platform for Social Justice has been in existence since 2008. PSJ team comprises of lawyers, nurses, trainers and counsellors who are well professionally trained to handle victims of any nature. PSJ networks with strategic partners and other like -minded organizations and we often receive referrals to handle victims / survivors. PSJ was founded by a group of lawyers who were ready to give free services to vulnerable persons like such victims without pay. PSJ has a membership of 30 lawyers who are already practicing advocates but would like to give back to the community, as a way of social responsibility through providing free legal services. PSJ has already worked on with many categories of victims, and has presented their cases before law. PSJ has worked in this community of Northern Uganda for over 10 years, hence we are very familiar with the historical and geographical issues affecting Northern Uganda. PSJ partnered with the Office of the International Court in Uganda to identify and prepare victims in Northern Uganda during the trial of the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) Leader Dominic Ogwen. On 15 December 2022, the Appeals Chamber confirmed the decisions of Trial Chamber IX on Dominic Ongwen’s guilt and sentence. During the trials on genocide that took place in Arusha, Tanzania, PSJ participated in the proceedings as amicus curie.
